I am having a hard time imagining what a two-state solution would look like.

It is a real problem. It is not like the 1850s when the confederates were all in one place.

Nobody is likely to be happy with any plan that is possible given what we have to work with.

But it would be better than a long civil war or life under fascism.

It seems unlikely to me that we would have a two state solution probably because I don’t understand how it would be done. I think we are already becoming a fascist oligarchy, and fascism will be universal. I think the oligarchs calling the shots globally. They are able to use media and propaganda much more efficiently that Hitler or Stalin ever was. There seems to be no strong counter balance to that takeover that has already occurred.

There are no good projections. The two state solution is the most logical, despite the terrible logistics.

No one of these is cast in stone and there may well be a possibility I did not cover.

The fascists may have global power but there are 7 billion regular people who will seek freedom. There was a resistance in Europe under the 3rd Reich and there will be one in this case too.

And, if it is the Trumpers who start a civil shooting war against a Democratic win, that too could come to cost too much.

Then there are the perils of climate disruption and environmental collapse that could make governance of any kind untenable.

But that is the topic of my next essay.
