It's not how I envisioned my Golden Years, either. I really liked Kamala's proposal to help seniors age in place. But since that's not happening, I imagine just like last time, there will be a huge response to anything negative the administration tries to do. Legal experts will stop things with lawsuits. And many organizations will rise up and bring people together. We don't just roll over here. That's part of what the United States is. We will come together and fight for what we believe in. It will have its dark moments, but there will be powerful positive changes, too. The CA Attorney General says he's ready. Many others, I'm sure, too. And if the prices don't go down..?

Well said. For some time the cold possibility of living my last years in this way, in this version of America...the chilling part is not just that facism won and will now take full hold of our country but that the people in a majority voted for it. Without this there is so much work to do on the planet. My grappling with this outcome is the conundrum I wonder if the true thread of why this happened will ever be acknowledged rather than blaming the other and how the Demorcrats need to do x y z. Its deeper than that. Beautiful writing thank you

Thank-you for your well written article. I think what makes America’s descent into Fasciam more difficult is that for us older Americans, we may never see our Country restored to a Democracy in our lifetimes. It just seems more tragic to live the last years of our lives with such hatred, division, and chaos. It’s really hard to deal with the grief.
