I am reaching a conclusion. There are enough people who like the audio/visual better than reading to justify the effort. It should attract some new folks too.
I hope to learn all I need to for an October 15th launch.
I think expanding to include a podcast and hosting live events is a good idea. I plan to do it myself —to expand past my current "reading of my posts with a little extra added) to interviewing guests and hosting live events and chats for my subscribers. Thanks for asking us!
Coming in late on this, but text, not video for sure is my preference. Less technology ( video is not face-to-face, it is face-to-camera). I actually prefer to be able to smell the paper I am reading.
I think it's important, indeed brave, that you are willing to use a word that few will discuss: collapse. We have an unsustainable global economy, a government that is collapsing, and most important, a planet that is rapidly undergoing climate change. We are in midst of enormous change - how indeed, do we live daily, and survive hopefully?
I have been having a hard time with that too. It seems we are all suffering from the collective stress of living through the last 10 years and it creeps out into the world in various ways. Just living is hard. Scheduling things can be impossible.
But I am going to set-up a podcast. The tech couldn't be that difficult to learn, could it?
I think most people like podcasts. I prefer to read over watching because I can read faster than I can watch. There is not enough hours in the day to watch podcasts. Thanks for asking.
Hi Annabel--I'm creating a podcast called Love Letters to the Future to talk all things New Mythos with my cohost, Laura Faye Tenenbaum. Each week we interview someone I would have discussed in a chapter in my manuscript or other writing. Better from the horse's mouth. ;-) We have 6 interviews in the can, with the goal of 10 before we launch on YouTube, Apple, Spotify and anywhere else we can create a channel and post for free. The subject and scope is big enough to interview some once a week forever.
I've given up on writing non-fiction books. No one reads them anymore. And social media--especially anything owned by the oligarchs--is an existential threat. It's the best way for me to communicate now.
Well I sure do try my best to read all the important substacks and listen to the podcasts, but its becoming challenging. Just went through a depression and am working my way through but realize that I must take some steps back go remain sane. So I could go for a sometimes, but that’s all I can do now
@Rachel Goodman--so nice to see you here, cousin! I will keep writing no matter what, but the algorithm keeps us guessing about how to get people to pay attention. It is too late for an electoral solution to this nightmare, so I am moving on to the problem of community resilience. We can't fight back if we are starving or lose our utilities. We CAN create food and energy sovereignty. It is going to take a lot of work, but it is the first step.

I would listen to your podcast. 🌹

I don’t listen to podcasts, from anyone. But I’m probably just an outlier.

I think you will have a brilliant podcast!

I like podcasts, because I can listen at my leisure. I seem to have a hard time scheduling things these days, for which I apologize.

You are giving me an idea. I suppose my podcast could be one of my songs.

I would like to say I would listen, but I’ve never done well remembering to tune in to podcasts.

I wish you all the luck! :-) <3

I am another who doesn't listen to podcasts, but. has the impression that "everyone else" does. I always hear about them,

Would welcome it with open ears. Hope Media Matters would be a feature and source of coverage. Preferably Indie Media Matters!
Best all with the venture! Media illiteracy is further indication that a consumer's mind is a terrible thing to waste...

I do listen to podcasts sometimes.
Nope. I dont listen to podcasts.
Personally, I would rather read than listen--but so many people tune in to podcasts that I'm sure you'd expand your audience.
