Thank you for writing about this. Especially now that our governmental social networs are being gutted by Trump and Musk, representing the oligarchy. I think there will be many people who will be confused by the loss of many things they took for granted. I think sometimes I'm luckier than many because I spent much of my life poorer than middle class. But as a member of a kind of counter culture I never actually thought of myself as poor - there were ways to barter, to buy second hand, to grow vegetables, and living in trailers or communal houses was just a way of life. Maintaining a car, and medical concerns, were a very big concern.

I am meeting with some friends to talk about bringing back the kind of "communalism" that we shared when we were youngers, realizing that ways for people to share resources and create community is going to become increasingly important now.

So many folks don’t realize how incredibly difficult it is to be poor. These are not theoretical difficulties but daily struggles. And sadly you are right, it’s about to get a whole lot worse and more folks are going to experience this for themselves.
