I wrote this EIGHT long years ago. It is horrifying that it is still as current now as it was then. When do we awaken from this national nightmare?

Why am I so passionate about defeating Trump?

Because the human race is dancing with extinction already. This is mostly a result of technology and unrestrained capitalism.

I don't want to hear that this is God's will-or that cockroaches will survive. I am not young and have no children. In 20 years or maybe 30 the light will go out for me. I want to know that in 1000 years young lovers will dance on the same beach where I danced and looked up at the same moon.

What does this have to do with Trump?

A good president can only do so much to fix the things that threaten us--most of which are structural. But a bad president can hasten our demise by orders of magnitude. A climate change denier can send us even further away from the solutions we must find. We don't have time for that. A devotee of plutocracy can send us over an environmental cliff. Or--god forbid--a bad president could set off a nuclear disaster.

Mr. Trump is would be exactly that type of bad president. On top of his various repulsive and morally bereft qualities, he is both thin-skinned and insane. He might not push the nuclear button--but he would certainly set us back 75 years on environmental protections. And that is enough to send us over the edge.

The world can not afford such a president.
